Our first class for ELC550 for this semester actually starts on the 10th
September of 2014. However, as there was something going on at the Faculty of
Language Study, the class were cancelled on that date. On the next class, Dr Krish
gave us a brief explanation on the course content of ELC550. She highlighted
that in this course; it’ll be the student itself that need to improvise themselves.
Later, as the time goes by, she really hopes that her students could speak and
write proficiently. Student’s language proficiency in writing will be evaluated
from these five writing aspects which are synthesis, analysis, application,
comprehension, and also student’s self-knowledge itself.
To ensure that the process of learning will be systematic and easy to
be referred later, we; as her students, need to prepare a portfolio for this
course. There, we include the course information of this course, some notes on
plagiarism, correct source of information and also notes on how to write
reference correctly. Apart from that, Dr Krish had also asked us to create a
reflective blog and wrote something about the class like how the class going on
etc. She really wanted to know those things of what actually the students
understand, the things that they do not understand, and student’s view on the
subject matter introduced in class.
Previously, I already had my own blog. As from my point of view, I
could see that a blog could really help us in expressing thoughts and opinion
apart from voice it out. My previous blog mostly was written in Bahasa. However,
to fulfil the requirement of this class, I challenged myself to fully utilize
this blog to enhance my English Language skill. Thus, here, I would like to
write fully in English. By having this blog, I could voice out my opinion
regarding current issue especially to those that are related to educational and
academic issues. As what I have disclaimed in the previous post, I won’t use
this blog for my personal matter.
For friends who have not started creating your blog, I would like to
inform you something. What do we have to know before starting a blog? Firstly,
you have to decide on what are you going to blog about. Then, ensure on which
blogging platform that you are about to choose. Lastly, choose the correct
domain and hosting. These three steps were important to make your blog
interesting and easy to-be-used later.
As a conclusion, hmm, yeah, I really agree with this sorts kind of
activity as I believe that practising to write on our own daily (even though
only a paragraph a day) could really help us (as students) to improve our
writing skill. So, don’t worry about people’s perception. Just put down your
thoughts.
Do enjoy your writing session everyone!
Best Regard.
